Expanding Hobey Baker High School Character Award
The Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation
The Hobey Baker High School Character Award program recognizes high school hockey players who exemplify the ideal that Character Builds Excellence. Each year, one senior hockey player from each participating high school is selected by his or her coach to be honored by teammates and celebrated by the school and community. Character award recipients display the characteristics of sportsmanship, integrity, positive attitude, leadership, community spirit and commitment to their team and the sport of hockey. Winners receive a customized, framed certificate, recognition at the team's year-end banquet, local press and social media coverage, visibility on the Hobey Baker web site, and recognition at professional sports team events. Our character development program employs research-based methods and content, experiential learning techniques, and a focus on the development of life skills to educate and teach aspects of character, sportsmanship and mental preparation.
