Scout Reach
Tecumseh Council
Scoutreach will be focused on using outside-the-box methods to promote the values and goals of the Scouting Program to underprivileged youth and their families in select neighborhoods and communities in Clark and Greene County, Ohio. We will focus our efforts through the schools. Local schools already interact with the demographics of the youth and families we hope to serve. They are a natural meeting place for our program. We will also work closely with those organizations whose focus is on those same local neighborhoods and communities. Two of the main focuses this year are an in-school program at Fulton and Perrin Woods where we provide stem and character development during normal class time. In addition to this, we are working with our friends and Job and Family Services to serve youth in foster care. These two initiatives would not have come about if not for the Gray Foundation. We will conduct weekly or bi-monthly events for youth and their families, at no cost to them. The program will culminate in a full, outdoor, camp experience at Tecumseh Council’s Camp Birch. These events - while intended to be both fun and exciting - will educate those attending on the benefits of the Scouting Program, and how the Scout Oath and Scout Law are not just words, but a way of life that builds strong character and confidence, inspires leadership, and teaches young people how to strive for heightened, personal goals, through hard work and strong ethics.
