The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA Leaders would like to send 15 leaders to the Great Lakes School(July 2017) where they would receive a thorough understanding of the Leaders Club, its function, goals and vision. The Great Lakes Leaders School is held for one week each summer at a college in OH. This is a collaboration between the YMCAs in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, and Michigan. The training program at the Leaders School is both rewarding and demanding. Leaders are exposed to classroom and group work, as well as gym activities. The training program is designed to expose Teen leaders to a wide variety of the YMCA work as well as helping each leaders develop a sound fundamental background in their life choices. The training program includes; theory and practice, leadership, personal development, fun and fitness. The Leaders also meet in small groups to discuss materials in the "Leaders of Life" curriculum. This curriculum focuses on a core group of tropics including conflict resolutions, health issues, diversity, communication, decision making, spirituality and YMCA Character Development.
